Grand Haven Charter Boat Industry Economics 2005

In the 2005 season, 1792 fishing charters took place out of Grand Haven area ports.  Charterboats took 7737 anglers fishing primarily on Lake Michigan.  902 (11.7%) of these anglers were Michigan non-residents.  Charterboat anglers caught 15,428 fish...almost exclusively salmon and trout.1

TowBoatU.S. Opens Two New Ports

TowBoatU.S., part of the nation's largest on-the-water towing service for recreational boaters, has opened two new ports on southern Lake Michigan, TowBoatU.S. St. Joseph and TowBoatU.S. South Haven, MI.  The two ports are owned and operated by Capt. Richard Lenardson, a native of Bridgman MI.  This brings the number of TowBoatU.S ports in Michigan to 14.

Ohio commercial fishermen concerned

A bill to allow the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to buy out remaining Lake Erie commercial fishing licenses was introduced last week by State Rep. Jim McGregor (R., Gahanna).
